WELCOME TO
Iris Esquivel
Scales
In the heat of every wonderful moment there is a pause--
where he reflects upon his life and thinks to himself, “how fucking great is life?”
He then puts a mental pin in this feeling, tells himself he’ll remember it always, and reconnects with his immediate surroundings. I just want to lose all inhibition and be really present, he tells himself.
He gets smashed and wakes up donning a thong and a black eye.
Two days later at the office he feels like a lizard. His head between his legs, he silently begs for a reason to make it ‘till five.
