People And Love

People, begging to be held tighter.
Curving their backs in hopeful anticipation that the kiss won’t end, and that the person on the other side of the table will never stop listening.
Small exchanges of words that make the long drives worthwhile and the cold coffee feel warm.
People, waiting for someone to notice their differences and only the good ones, living for the moments others will remember them by, and barely noticing the days that pass by in between.

Friends that need to be asked "how are you" more than once to tell you their day, and strangers that needn’t be asked at all to tell you their life on the way to work.

People, crying out for the lives they were promised, and just a little bit of love while they wait.
